Teens today are getting draw in by the drug trend very strongly because of the celebrities they see and love. many rappers in today's society are said to have been drug dealers or drug users and so their loyal followers begin to follow they lead in the life they once had. The try to get their lives to the one of the celebrities they love so much.

"TEENS DO DRUGS BECAUSE THEY WANT TO FIT IN WITH THE CROWD."
Have you done drugs just to be part of the croud? NO, you say? What makes you any difference from every1 else? "THEY WANT TO BE COOL THEY DONT TO BE TEASED ABOUT IT." Who cares what every1 else says! If you do drugs because you dont want to be tease and your so simple minded that you cannot make up your own mind its your parents that have failed you... not society! AND YES DRUGS ARE ADDICTIVE... DEAL WITH IT...

I have friends that do drugs, they dont force me to do them also, real friends dont do that... you have to grow up an realise the world doesnt have your back, you have to look out for yourself. People take drugs for recreation every now and then... they arent addicted... so what

I am only 16 and you wouldn't believe what I have been asked to do. I have been offered from cigarettes to cocaine. For this reason I think there is a lot of pure pressure, but it is easy enough to make the right decision and say no. I mean it's a one syllable word that is easy to say, and you probably say it a lot to your parents so just say it to your 'friends'. Simple enough, I do it all the time. Also, don't hang around your friends when they are taking the drugs or high on them either. Guilty by association. Don't do it. Don't be around it.

Peer pressure is their and it hard to say know to a friend and all this talk about if they are really your friend then they wouldn't offer it talk is B.S. they well most of the time offer once yeah its only once but its hard to say no i mean you think you messing out on something or they are going to have fun and you not yeah they are stupid thoughts but we have them. And a reason we teens do drugs you wanna know is because we are bored think about it what teens do drugs is it the kid that stays after school and runs track or the one that has some parent home when they get out of school? no its the kids who are home alone dint stay after school and just do nothing from after school till 5 or 8 at night. this is a known fact. other reasons, lack of support from friends, and or family, low self esteam and what is the cause of that yes the media but that's only a start you can not blame society for everything though, parents do it to them too if their grades aren't high enough you might be one of the kid who here it's alright you can do better or you could be the one who hears what the hell is this. which one helps your esteam? their is no one person at fault for this it is everyone as a whole.

yeah i see all of you on here talkin about the problem but what are you doing to fix it! and it not as easy as take the drug out of their hand or getting rid of dealers because trust me as soon as you find a way to stop them they will find ways around it. drugs will always be her illegal or not and their is nothing you can do about it. all you can do is support them when they wanna quit you cant force them to quit trust me i know from experience that you your self have to wanna quit. so instead of wasting time and money one trying to get drugs off the street look its a lost cause you should spend time and money helping those who wanna quit and need help those are the once who better society and who know they may know of ways to slow drug traffic

I think teenagers do drugs because they get depressed and cant take it anymore and hear that drugs are meant to ease your mind. But there bodies can not control it and they get high.so they do to ease depression and to stop them from suicidal.

Ok I think this site seems to generalise drug takers as people who need it to survive. I myself am a teenage drug taker. I take it at most once every 3 months. I am under no peer pressure to take them. I take them as a way to help me relax, much in a way people drink alcohol. Please do not think that everyone who takes them need to. Nor is anyone who takes them going to be addicted. I should also point out that I am a university student, so am somewhat successful, and have a very happy life. However, I don't agree that any particular drug should be legalized. I do think that education on drugs and how to take them safely will be more effective than trying to scare people away, cause there are people who will take them anyway

I recently attended a peace circle at a local high school. Among the 20+ kids all of them where affected by what their friends, peers, society and family thought of them. Whether it was dealing with sex, drugs, grades, dress, what ever ,all of them talked about how the opinions of others affected their behavior. For anyone that tried to ask someone out in high school you know you care desperately what they think about you and what everyone else is going to say. Sometime later we don't let it affect us as much, but I would argue that people worry about what others think until they die. So the question doesn't seem to be is it good or bad to do drugs, to have sex at a young age, or to steal. Kids know how to do it and the consequences. The question, which many have pointed out is "why" to kids do what they do? If kids and adults could explore the "whys" behind actions, the needs they are trying to get meet by doing what they do, they might be able to figure out different or healthier strategies to get their needs meet. So I believe schools and parents need to teach kids how to figure out what their feeling and needs are and to be able to think about them, and to identify the feeling and needs of others, and the strategies they might be using to get them meet.

Any society that pays less attention to the issues affecting the youth, especially teens, is playing with its future. Youths despite their numerical strength are now restless anywhere and everywhere. No effective and efficient youth friendly policy that will take a holistic approach to the issues affecting them. Teens do drugs for endless reasons such as peer pressure, lack of good role models, bad government policy etc. Teens because of their restlessness will always like to experiment, especially, with those things that the parents have tagged 'Thou Shall Nots' (Reactance Theory). Parents should always teach their wards moral values using 'cause and effect' strategy. They should be a good role models and become the change they want in their children. If you take proper control of your family and I take control of mine, there will be a new and better society because a family is a unit of the society.

I think the main reason why people do drugs and drink alcohol(especially at my school) is because they want to fit in and don't want to be labelled as "not cool". Instead they want to fit in and "be cool". And the funny part about it, people don't admit to this as to why they start doing drugs, even though they know it is the truth

My friend for example, he never got into that stuff and didn't have any interest. When he started meeting new groups of kids at school he wanted to fit in with them and "be cool". Thus he started drinking alcohol, smoking weed, and trying other stuff. He says that he's just doing because he likes it, but I know the truth, and he knows the truth, he's mainly doing it so he can fit in with this new group.

Why can't you just be yourself?

teens do drugs basically because they believe that drugs can rid them of the pain and stress some of them endure everyday
some teens have problems in  their relationships with their boyfriend/girlfriend, parents ,friends and they have problems with school.
some of them do drugs feeling that just one time will help them with their problems but they become addicted and end up in the wrong path

THE DESTRUCTION STARTS THERE!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Johnson i agree with you. I dont believ in the use of drugs. I never done them myself but i was adopted because both of my parents were drugies. I know that i will never end up like them. i use what happened to them as a strengh to give me the will power o wanna suceed. My parents lost their right to ever see me again beacuse they made wrong and bad choices. I strongly revise all children and teens my age to work at making a difference beacuse one person really can. i love that we have a drug free month because kids really need to know the harm that they put themselfs in.
