I am not sitting on the fence, I believe pretty clear cut that people in the world have to stop playing the soft political ball and get down to threading arrows through holes. America is pathetic in its world policies, its invasive attitude into all current world situations shows it has large interest in the world at whole, however on the other hand it has no interest in the very world we depend on. It is a unjustifiable stance, a country that has tested nuclear weapons, produced massive amounts of carbon emissions that have lead to the devastation of our atmosphere and the addition of the unknown to our worlds future, should be the very first on the band wagon to remedying the problems at hand, instead America chooses to ignore the issues of upmost importance and continue its destructive ways in any region it sets foot.

It is time to be accountable for the actions taken, accept responsibility and fix the resultant situations left in the aftermath of the US infiltration. I do not sit on the fence, i have a very clear cut perspective on what needs to be done, in the end America is a small percentage of life on earth, yet they feel as if they are almost the entire world makeup. For such a small percentage population of the earth America has had a large influence in all facets of life both good and bad, it is time they took action to see that none of the events of the past 50 years occur again at such time, after all the world is potentially another Hiroshima waiting to happen.

John,

By not sitting on the fence, I mean we should all be up and doing. We shouldn't retreat from participating in politics as usual and citizen's politics.

Quoting you now: It is time to be accountable for the actions taken, accept responsibility and fix the resultant situations left in the aftermath of the US infiltration. I believe you and this philosophy and that is why we must pray for the American CITIZENS to get it right this time around. Enough of wars. Enough of CO2 emission. Sign and ratify Kyoto agreement. Ratify the Framework Convention on Tobacco Control. I believe an act of INJUSTICE in one country is an act of INJUSTICE anywhere and everywhere. It is time to be accountable but not in a negative way. Nobody should  pray for another negative thing to happen in the US. Black people all over the world are praying for Obama. Some greater percentage of women are praying for H. Clinton. I also believe that an average US citizen will like to right the wrong. What is missing in the whole world is JUSTICE. I've written about JUSTICE before which is the acronym for: Justice, Unity, Service, Transparency/Truth/Trust, Integrity, Character, Equality/Equity.

John, thanks a million for educating us and please don't be angry. Things will be all right.

There is always peace from me, I am perhaps to tolerant to things. However I would rather endure pain as a result of tolerance than inflict pain as so many others do.

Thanks. I think we can continue with this discussion. Who is going to start it? What level are we taking the discussion to?

USA doe's a lot of wrong things in the world, very wrong things.
But, i know they've done more good then bad and people around the world including Americans like to focus on the wrong things rather then the good things.
A lot of people i see like to point at past wars that involved US for example.

1- WW2....people think we claimed victory. As far as i remember and i found this out on European history websites: the Brits, French, Poland and Russia were all claiming victory before the US claimed victory, but the US gets crap when they claim victory to anything.

2- Vietnam: well people blame Americans ONLY for this war. This war was about communism. China and Russia were a big cause of this war, spreading the communist ways and providing weapons for the communist North Vietnamese. The French and many other countries were on the south Vietnamese side fighting this war well before the US got involved, and we were asked to get involved, but we get all the crap because we stayed and tried to clean up the mess everyone made including ourselves and make sure the elections in Vietnam were ran fair and smoothly because of the wide spread communism. Yes, we made horrible mistakes but this was actually a world war, and it was happening well before we got there.

3- Iraq war: Yes this war is crap. I find it funny though that people point fingers at only the US. This war was planned by Tony Blair AND George Bush. Signed on the dotted line. The US don't rely on middle eastern oil at all. Sure, Bush and Chaney have investments in some of these oil companies, but we don't want the oil as others stated in the world, mainly Europe. However, Europe relies on all middle eastern oil and Tony Blair used this to get neighboring allies involved as well. So, if we are to blame for this war, then people need to look around and realize the reality that its NOT ONLY US involved here, but its half of Europe as well. And if you still think its about oil, well then your countries are fighting for oil as well. US did not enter by themselves on day one, our European allies entered with us. So they are just as much to blame because they knew what they were getting themselves into before hand and still went.

4- We are not the most Powerful country nor do we think this, this is the label that the world gave us. China by far is the richest and most Powerful country in the world, no doubt about it. They have the military, they have the money and they have the assets. WE DON'T. Also, 40% of the energy used up in the US is from foreign owned companies. If we really wanted to ruin the world like people in the rest of the world thinks, we could just stop Exporting our Grain, we do provide 90% of the worlds Grain and everyone relies on it and if we stopped that, The world economy as a whole would collapse. But we don't do that. Anyways, I'm done here..this is ridiculous how people point the finger at US only about everything before looking at them selves.

Thank You All For Listening If You Did, and GOD BLESS US ALL IN THE WORLD.

A big THANK YOU to you Bri for opening the discussion once again. I think Kakamaka was trying to be playful after making two critical points about ARROGANCY and A STARTER OF post WWII wars. About Democracy, I think Americans are just learning fast and they want to know more about Democracy and Democratic settings in other parts of the world. This, to me, is what other countries should emulate. On arrogancy, I think that is one of the attributes of both animals and human beings especially when you have what others don't have. If you display a high degree of confidence about an issue, that may also be dubbed 'ARROGANCY'. Human beings - Americans, Britons, Africans etc should develop love for each other and do away with hatred. Why does the world hate the USA? To me, this could also mean Why does the world hate itself? If I hate the USA, i should also hate Africans, Hispanic, Asians, Europeans etc who are American citizens. Remember that an African, Obama (a Kenyan boy) is making waves in the political arena of the USA. Now to a golden question: Which country do you think this type of democracy can happen apart from the USA? Can an Asian become a Prime Minister in Britain? I'm not saying the USA is perfect. No country is perfect. We should not because of some shortcomings be blinded over other good things that the USA has given to the world.

i would like to start off by saying i am an American airmen and very proud of my country. i dont know if the world hates us and i dont really cair because if not for us all of Europe and some of Russia would be speaking Germain right now or some other language and half of china would belong to japan. I'm not trying to bring up past glories all i am saying is that every one hates the big tough kid on the block until they get their ass in a jam. you may say what you wish about my country if you are from some other countrie because one day you will ask us for help or possibly you will be to stuborn to ask and we will help anyway cuz that is what we do. also remeber if you are an American, the next time you start a protest or go all crazy about the war on sombody in a coffe shop just remeber who fights for those rights you take sooooo for granted as an everday thing. i fight for you so you can spit on me when i come home....i dont cair what the war is over oil, freedom of the people, protecting ourselves it is not mine to question why it is mine to do or die.

We shouldn't mind the last speaker's military approach. He must not forget that in all these battles for freedom or oil, the USA worked with allies. No man is an island. It is from that angle that I wish the world to have allies for love and peace. What ususally causes wars? Absence of JUSTICE! JUSTICE is the acronym for:
J= Justice
U= Unity
S= Service
T= Truth, Trust, Transparency
I= Integrity
C= Character
E= Equality.
Absence of JUSTICE is absence of LOVE! Absence of JUSTICE is absence of PEACE. Absence of JUSTICE is presence of VIOLENCE and WAR.

why people hate America??. It's very evident to hate the american policy towards the rest of the world. Because, when the politicians try to interfere in other's peole's buisness they don know how to make things better than making it worse. America considers itself the police of the world without askin' for permission, that's why the evil power controls the americans and to make sure i'm not aiming at citizens the are away from that, coz' some of them don agree onthe american policy towards the world. That's why we hate America, sorry.

Wow, I feel honored to be in the presence of such intelligent people!  All this wonderful lack of punctuation just has me buzzing with inspiration!
Anyway, to the point.
I am an American.  I like what America stands for, not what it is or was or will be.  America stands for liberty, and hope for tomorrow and what not.  That's why so many people left Europe and Asia to come here, and not the other way around.  There was something promising enough for them to leave their peaceful or not so peaceful shores in another country to come here.  It was an idea.
Now, I don't honestly believe that exists anymore here.  Today we try to back it up but there is so much corruption within our government that it makes it very difficult to impossible to realize that ambition that we set before us.
Unlike many Americans, I have been to Europe.  Europe is a nice place.  And quite honestly, it reminds me of America.
You know why?  It's because Europeans like the American concept still.  I see people who can't even speak English walking around with Yankees hats and jerseys!  The music playing inside stores and at airports is American music.  Yeah, I would know because I do live here.
And I don't hate Europe.  While Europeans like to think that EVERY American hates Europe, we honestly don't care about your opinions in the long run.  In fact, we are totally indifferent to other countries.  It's a good strategy, because at some point someone is going to need money from us, and of course EVERY American is loaded with cash!  We just walk around with tons of money hanging out of our pockets.  Honestly, that's a bunch of crap.  Americans live like any other European neighbor.  And yeah, there are a lot of fat Americans.  Forgot to mention that we also do better in the Olympics than every other country.  Don't even mention team size, quality athletes are what matter.
The reason we're different from Europeans is because we are younger than Europeans!  We haven't developed by old standards.  We have bigger roads, hence BIGGER CARS?  Who would've thought?  We have a bigger country, hence we need to produce for our country by making more factories!  Once again, who would've guessed?
Also, Americans are not all cold hearted bastards as you may have come to believe.  That is a bunch of crap.  Many Americans are very nice people, and of course we have our standouts but that is a stereotype to think otherwise.  If your country is that way, our country is probably that way too.
So many people are close minded and hate on countries because of ridiculous ideas that they brew just so they can feel better about themselves.  I don't hate any country.  Every country has something fascinating and unique to it.  Every country has something horrible about it.  The problem is people tend to emphasize the horrible things more.
Also, it's hard being at the top. Have you ever thought about that?  America has to do everything it can to satisfy the will of the world so that it won't generate more hate.  We can't, and that's a fact.  Nor could any other country for that matter.  People are corrupt, in general.  Lord of the Flies serves that purpose well.  America will fail and succeed, fail and succeed.  Every "empire" learns that throughout the course of its lifetime.
Well, I've completed my rant, or whatever you wish to make of it.  Just remember, if you continue to hate, all you do is become the very hypocrite you are trying to condemn.

Tom C. is right.
I will add as an American, that I am very distressed by many American's lack of knowledge about world affairs, and how they relate to our Country. I have been lucky to live several times outside the country, in Europe and Asia. I know that many peoples really like our country and people.

The issue for them about us, is centered around our ignorance by the average person, regarding practical information. The average European, by contrast, has a great deal more interior knowledge about the USA, than most Americans! In return, Americans know almost nothing about Europe. News programs in Europe, are filled with items about our Country, yet, American news has little other than major events, sporadically, on European events.  Too, Americans on average, travel very little distances from their homes, and if so, only in USA locations. Some do go overseas, but not many by comparison. The dollar exchange rate affects that a lot, and enables
Euro bearing tourists to come here more cheaply, or, many other currencies still not Euro.

Tourists go to Europe and tend to act childish and entitled, and do not always try to blend in and soak up the location. It is too much for them to grasp the need to understand that local customs and traditions are not a Disney production, but, a respected part of life there. Many really need to grow up and stop being immature. Learn more before going and ask intelligent questions. Do not insult people by being ignorant. The people in Europe are courteous, but, they are not blind and deaf. You are in their home, act respectfully and learn.

In addition, most are more educated about the US geography/history, than many average Americans. Many Americans say the most asinine things; such as the one earlier here, that we "won World War Two" calling it WWII, badly abbreviated. We were pulled into the war after Pearl Harbor was attacked, and since Japan,  Germany, and Italy were in their Axis alliance, we fought all, but NOT alone. We came very close to losing that war, and people do not all understand that aspect.  Read history and your eyes may pop out.  The British were close Allies, we gave some support during the Battle of Britain, which they essentially fought alone. It took being attacked by Japan for us to join them. Before that, we were trying to be "isolationist" and stay out of the war. Roosevelt wanted us IN the war too. "New Deal" Programs helped our economy from the Depression, but the war did the magic by increased production and jobs to support the war efforts.

Money helped reconstruct Europe, but the people, they did their recovery and clean up alone. Very quickly too. Imagine people carrying out piles of debris brick-by-brick.  Could you do that?
The British did that too, during and right after an air raid or V1 buzz bomb dropped. Horrible.

We can learn much from Europe, so Americans need to realize that is the case. In public transportation alone, we can use their guidance, as ours is pretty lame except for NYC, Chicago, and San Francisco. Where are our city efficient bus lines that arrive on time, subways, and rail?

Use manners and behave like adults. Learn customs and some normal information, then Europeans may start seeing us as people with more respect.
