You want our money, our products, or protection of you and the world, but you hate our arrogance. No USA, no world...period.
Yes...but also shows your jealousy and inferiority, I'm sorry for you and ones who thank like you but if you think the world would be a better place without us, then you're also very naive or just stupid. I wish we didn't do anything with the rest of the world, take care of just our own and let the rest of you rot.
Dear Van Tornhaut Lorenzo,
I agree totally with your analysis. But really that is the history for you – one super power nation goes and another comes. It is often said that the biography of the world is the history of great men. The question arises: how many real great men do we have in the last five decades? It is unfortunate that our fate is often being determined by the actions of our leaders.
I believe, most Americans don’t like their foreign policies as well. They don’t even like some of the policy makers. Please read the following books written by Americans themselves and find out the truth:
1. Hope Unraveled: People’s Retreat and Our Way Back by Richard Harwood
2. Politics for People: Finding a Responsible Public Voice by David Mathews
If we keep on criticizing the government, it has nothing to do with the average American citizen. Like I postulated earlier, British government in time past made some mistakes due to its obsession for power.
The Industrial Revolution that broke out in Europe after the abolition of slave trade in the 18th Century left the Europe with two fundamental questions:
And so they found answers to these two questions by scrabbled and partitioned Africa. To answer the questions Britain, after the Benin Massacre of 1897, established an Indirect Rule system of government in all her colonies. One of the greatest blunders of the British Government that is still affecting Nigeria till today is the Amalgamation of the Southern Protectorate and Northern Protectorate of Nigeria in 1914. Two protectorates that have nothing in common were forced to become one because of selfish interest of the British government. Remember, I never say British people are bad- I do not generalize.
In this discussion, I think we have to separate governments from people because majority of the citizens are not in government and most of them don’t contribute to the formulation of policies - either domestic or foreign.
Try not to hate Americans but hate the American government and its foreign policies. Just like the Britons, American citizens are also responsible. In the 9/11 terrorist attacks, how many policy makers died? How many government people died? Most of the people that died were innocent American citizens. President Bush and members of his cabinet are still alive today. Please try and separate responsible citizens from irresponsible government.
If people weren't so rude when it came to cellphones, it may not be a problem when it came to cellphones in the class. I am in college and I hate it when another students sit in class on their phone as if they are alone. Before the cellphone came along, parents were able to contact the school if there was a problem. They can still call the office as far as I am concerned. There is a time and place for everything, cellphones don't need to be in the classroom. We should be used to them by now. We just need to get over it, there are much more important things in the world to worry about and having a cellphone in the class is not one of them.
i'm american. taking over middleastern lands just to get oil!! What bull! Terrorists attacked us, so we need to get to them before another 9/11 happens.
